- Most of the conducting portion is lined with ciliated pseudostrtified columnar epithelium that contain rich population of goblet cell known as respiratory epithelium.Typical respiratory epithelium consists of 5 types of cells—
- i. Ciliated columnar cell: Most abundant
- ii. Goblet Cell: The next abundant cell
- iii. Basal cell: Small rounded cells that lie on the basal lamina,Considered as generative cells that differentiate to other cells.
- iv. Brush cell: Contain numerous microvilli in the apical surface
- v. Small granule cells: resembles basal cells exception it posses numerous granules.These cells are also categorized as neumerous endocrine cells.
