Difference between hemosiderosis and hemochromatosis
Hemosiderosis
Hemochromatosis
Golden color pigments present in cytoplasm of macrophages and RE cells (hemosiderin pigment).
Golden color pigments present in cytoplasm of epithelial cells (hemosiderin-like pigment).
Hemolysis is the cause of hemosiderosis.
Inborn defect in Iron metabolism.
Usually Prussian-blue test is positive in macrophages and RE cells.
Prussian-blue test is negative in epithelial cells.
